[ BLOG POST 21 ] Forget Cyborgs — Biohybrid Robots Are Almost Here

Robots are becoming more and more common as well as advanced,  and soon they might be made not only with metal parts but with biological parts live living cells and human tissue. In these robots called “biohybrid robots”, muscle cells can be added to help them perform subtle movements. And on a microscopic scale, tiny robots could be merged with bacteria to ferry them through the body for precision medical procedures (something like nanorobots). Scientists today from around the world are saying that this field of robotics is developing and becoming more and more possible every day. They have thought about adding this biological feature to robots in order to bring robots to their state of perfection. Adding these features will increase the movement and efficiency of the robots. How robots move has been a challenge that scientists have had to face, but this new feature has the possibility of overcoming this challenge. However with this new feature also comes new challenges. With biological components comes the need to sustain them, which scientists have yet to figure out.

Robots will for sure have an impact on communication technology. Rather than having real humans working behind the screen on websites and other types of communication technology, we will most likely soon have robots controlling the internet. But those who create robots, like engineers, coders, etc. seem to have a really unique job. I think it’s interesting because they may not have a direct connection to the communications technology industry however they still influence it in some way.
